In November of 2010, the Hilgers and I prayerfully considered offering a mission trip to Hilger students. God opened the doors for the trip, and we had so many students interested in the trip that we created an application process and a waiting list.
God's provision for the trip has been a blessing to watch! First Alliance has blessed us with the use of their facilities throughout our team meetings and fundraising efforts. One of our first donations was an anonymous $1000 from a family that believed in the purpose of the trip. Our largest donation was $4900 from a dynamic local church, and our smallest donation was a quarter and a penny from a precious Hilger elementary student. God provided over $23,450 for the mission trip team members. Some team members even acquired extra money that they are using to purchase supplies for the orphanage. Another initial blessing was Lois Anderson's willingness to chaperone the trip with me. Her huge heart and wisdom have blessed us throughout the seven-month journey to prepare for the trip.

This team is a family . . . they have a supernatural connection that is obviously from our Father. They pray for each other; they laugh with each other; they confront each other; they miss each other; they sing with each other; but most of all, they love each other.
I LOVE WATCHING GOD WORK IN STUDENTS, and it has been a treat to walk through a few months of life with this dynamic group! It is with mixed emotions that I will board that flight on July 6 - the days of loving beautiful Haitian people will fly by. . . and so will my time with this precious team of Jesus-loving teenagers!
